And The Devil Trembles
Apr 30th, 2011 | By CCD-Chew & Jenny E | Category: From Pastor Jo's DeskYes, the devil trembles when he sees God’s children on their knees! Listen to these words from men known for being men of prayer –
Andrew Murray – “Time spent in prayer will yield more than that given to work. Prayer alone gives work its worth and its success. Prayer opens the way for God Himself to do His work in us and through us. Let our chief work as God’s messengers be intercession; in it we secure the presence and power of God to go with us.” F.B. Meyer – “The greatest tragedy of life is not unanswered prayer, but un-offered prayer.” Charles H. Spurgeon - “We cannot all argue, but we can all pray; we cannot all be leaders but we can all be pleaders; we cannot all be mighty in rhetoric, but we can all be prevalent in prayer. I would sooner see you eloquent with God than with men.”
Jim Cymbala – “The devil is not terribly frightened of our human efforts and credentials. But he knows his kingdom will be damaged when we begin to lift up our hearts to God.” Samuel Chadwick said, “The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but he trembles when we pray.” E.M. Bounds said, “What the church needs today is not more or better machinery, not new organizations, or more novel methods; but men whom the Holy Spirit can use – men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Spirit does not flow through methods, but through men of prayer.”
Beloved, these are not just nice-to-hear, nice-sounding cliché’s – these men spoke these words for they practiced it and saw its power – they saw results! And Jesus is their model This is what I would encourage you to do continually as we minister to Siquijor this week. As part of this church family, it is your partnership with us and your responsibility to fight with us on your knees. For as you know we are engaged in a spiritual warfare. We’re not going for a vacation, it’s a mission.
Prayer is not designed as an intercom between us and God to serve the domestic comforts of the saints. It’s designed as a walkie-talkie for spiritual battlefields. It’s the link between active soldiers and their command headquarters, with its unlimited fire-power and air cover and strategic wisdom. Because life is a battlefield, we have to maintain an open communication with our Commanding General for we can’t fight this battle apart from Him. So beloved, join us in this battle (the Lord already won) as we trust and obey Him!
Pray for – 1) H4U Team’s safe travel; 2) Good health; 3) Hearts open to the gospel and be saved; 4) Unity of the churches involved; 5) The Lord frustrating the schemes of our enemy the devil.
(Be in “prayer mode” or intercede on the actual day and time of concert – Wednesday, 7:30 up)
